Abraham Lincoln’s letter to his son’s Head Master...

****compiled

Respected Teacher,
My son will have to learn I know that all men are not just, all men are not true. But teach him also that for ever scoundrel there is a hero; that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader.
Teach him that for every enemy there is a friend. It will take time, I know; but teach him, if you can, that a dollar earned is far more valuable than five found.Teach him to learn to lose and also to enjoy winning.
Steer him away from envy, if you can.
Teach him the secret of quite laughter.
Let him learn early that the bullies are the easiest to tick.
Teach him, if you can, the wonder of books.. but also give him quiet time to ponder over the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun, and flowers on a green hill –side.
In school teach him it is far more honourable to fail than to cheat.Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, even if every one tells him they are wrong.
Teach him to be gentle with gentle people and tough with the tough.Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when every one is getting on the bandwagon.
Teach him to listen to all men but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through.
Teach him, if you can, how to laugh when he is sad.
Teach him there is no shame in tears.
Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness.
Teach him to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidders; but never to put a price tag on his heart and soul.
Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob… and to stand and fight if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently; but do not cuddle him because only the test of fire makes fine steel.

Every thng happens for a reason....

Not heart felt feelings ppl.....but gud one i liked....courtesy ORKUT

No wild guesses dudes and dudettes.....am really bad at poetry....had been posting lots of my personal opinion..juss wanted to add one peice of poetry..to start with....i liked it though i dint understand all of it....LOL

Where are you when I need you most?
You disappeared into the darkness
You left nothing behind but your memory
And for me to wait for you

Your heartfelt spirit is absent now
The smiles have wiped off the faces
Of the people you deserted here
You caused internal pain forever

I, the one you loved am crippled
Because of your sudden vacation
Your vacation that would last a lifetime
To a secret resort I will never know of

What made you decide to change your mind?
You made me feel I wasn't good enough for you
Maybe that is true, maybe it is not
But now, how will I ever know?

I have been trying to thrust your memory aside
So I could get on with my life
I have tried to love someone other than you
Yet, somehow you remain the main focus

My outlook on life has changed, you know
And yes, it is because of your actions
You left me here alone to put up with this
This life I can not live without you....

My tryst with my 1st job

It was like a dreamrun...I had been to a place to get a small hourly job...but fortunately that was filled...i said fortunately remember....coz there was a much bigger job waiting for me at that location..dropped in my resume...and dint let that job go by...and it took almost a day for me to get my cover letter appropriate to that job..my interview was done a week ago and it was a pretty simple offer after visiting so many places.....sometimes god is fair....or may not be i am not sure.....

Welcome party...Football stadium

WOW!(Week of Welcome) was really wow!!It started with a football match intro..ofcoz not a match but a trial version of it....got a lot of goodies in fact had say 15 sets of playing cards in room after the event...too many goodies...juss to recatipulate things....i guess fr da first time in life i felt two eyes were not enugh to concentrate on so many things...evrythng was amazing....after all my two eyes could capture only little of the total event i guess....turnout was huge...fr the frst time could get to see the craziness of amrus for football live....unfortunately I saw the moon on dat night(remeber its vinayaka chathurthi day) at the event...oh god damn sentimental...got back listened to the whole story once again and prayed the lord....but had a gr88 experience altogether dat day....

Vinayaka Chathurthi

Exactly a day before the big beginning of my Graduate course... a fitting occassion and a fitting god to pray for....very sunny day in fact....Courtesy Youtube...I attended the longest vinayaka chathurthi puja of my life....so nice to see lotto traditional indian dishes(puris,Kudumulu, different kind of sweets, list goes on)....felt home away frm home....in fact never had done puja on this scale even in homeland....of coz had my academic calender at the puja venue and prayed that evrythng goes well...

Helping International students

I have to start with the words....I am flattered........astounded...in fact couldnot beleive the generosity of the local ppl.....how nice of them to give away furniture for free...afterall dats not all....transporting it on their own..early morning on a weekend when they could do 1000 other works....unloading it for display....and later transporting to the ppl who need them...above all moving and placing it in house 2 floors above carrying them on shoulders....all this without expecting anything in return.....our house was not just filled with a luxorious american furniture worth $1000 but with tons of admiration for the simplicity of the hosts....hope flattered is pretty small word to describe all this....it was like a pleasant surprise...day by day i am being proved that i had many wrong notions abt the so called ultra commersialised nation....afterall evrybody has a opinion need not b right always...

Ice cream social

He he..... to add to the other programs Ice cream social had special importance as we got to see few gorgeous girls...and had fun playing games with ppl (of coz after having different flavors of icecreams) from countries like say costa rica,portarico,peraguay,...truly global in a sense...had few snaps too with korean counterparts.....afterall english unites us all....else evrybody had their own world...very diificult to identify difference between a chinese counterpart and a korean friend folks....

Orientation Contd...

Next thing we attended was the welcome dinner by Helping International students group(intended to help international students in various ways....)had dinner with ppl from around 30 countries in a group of say 100 ppl(ofcoz 50% were chinese+indian...quiet deservedly..he he) later had fun games....felt silly to play kids kind of games..but our american counterparts were njoying more than we did....could get to meet and talk to ppl frm Czech,etc...ppl are really scared to pronounce indian names...damn everybody compalins they are tough....so generous of this voluntary organisation to take up such event...

Experiences @ 63rd Independence day

Had a gr888 feeling to c Indian flag flutter in a foreign nation on 63rd year of Indian Independence day....Kudos to the liberty that this country offers in such events....Pretty good to c decent turnup by the Indian community....Above all it was stupendous to c our Head of Department as the cheif guest to the occasion....gives a sense of inspiration when we get to c an Indian achieve so much n yet be so humble...(for the 1st time I admired the greatness of an IIT guy--IIT-D passout 1986).Always had that nutty feeling abt IIT geeks...all my thoughts were proved wrong by this guy....It was gud to meet fellow american friends....funny to explain them what the foodstuff is made of...pakodaas,bajjis, he he really funny explaining them stufff......majorly BAPU was the centrepoint of the speeches(though I am not such a great fan of him) still could not miss out the patriotic feeling...1 mile walk to participate in the event was more than worth it....atleast for an year

Happy Independence Day
